Build-up Tumor

Cause:

Flank Wear is Too Fast

Cause:

  • Cutting speed is too high.

  • The tip of the tool is too much above the center line of the workpiece.

Solution:

  • Reduce cutting speed.
  • Reduce the number of feeds.
  • Adjust the height of the installed insert.

Uneven Wear of Left and Right Cutting Edges

Cause:

  • The inclination of the insert edge is inconsistent with the helix angle of the thread.
  • The lateral feed method is incorrect

Solution:

  • Replace the appropriate shim to obtain the correct blade inclination.
  • Adopting improved side feed method

Chop/ Breakage

  • Cutting speed is too slow.

  • Increase cutting speed.
  • Increase the number of feeds and reduce the maximum feed.

Tool Ductile Deformation

Cause:

  • The cutting speed is too high and the cutting temperature is too high.
  • Insufficient supply of cutting fluid.

Solution:

  • Reduce cutting speed.
  •  Increase the supply of pre-cutting fluid, and aim at the processing area for cooling.

Poor Thread Surface Quality

Cause:

  • Cutting speed is too low.
  • The tip of the tool is located above the center height.
  • Poor chip control

Solution:

  •  Increase cutting speed.
  • Adjust the height of the tool center.
  •  Change the appropriate feed method.

Incorrect Thread Profile (Too Flat Profile)

Cause:

  • The height error of the tool installation center is too large.
  • Tool wear or damage.

Solution:

  • Tool wear or damage.
  • Change the tool or change the cutting edge.

Vibration

Cause:

  • Incorrect clamping of workpiece or tool.
  • Improper selection of cutting parameters.

Solution:

  • Adjust the clamping state of the workpiece or tool.
