What’s the difference between reamers and end mills?
- Application: Reaming is the process of enlarging the hole. Reamers are used to create precision holes by removing a small amount of material from a previously formed hole. End mills are used in milling applications such as profile milling, tracer milling, face milling, and plunging, but rarely used for direct drilling.
- Shape: The flute of reamers could be straight and spiral, end mills are generally spiral flutes.
